A comprehensive system of health, academic and family services to support teens and young families

The Teen and Young Parent Program is available to assist pregnant and parenting teens and young families – whether they are in need of prenatal education, parenting education, support to remain in school, or anything in between.

Early Childhood Services does not directly provide services to teens and young families; rather, works with them to coordinate the most appropriate services in the area at no cost to the recipient(s).

Early Childhood Services is working with several area community agencies to provide the most comprehensive services possible to teens and young families based on individual and family needs.

Persons eligible to receive Teen and Young Parent Program support services include teens and young families who:

  • Have not yet graduated from high school or need assistance after high school
  • Have limited resources
  • Live in Douglas or Sarpy Counties
  • Are expecting or parenting children ages
    0 to 5-years-old

Our objective is to serve at least 1,000 teens and young families each year. For young families receiving services, our goals are to:

  • Encourage high school graduation and progression on to post-secondary education
  • Reduce repeat pregnancies
  • Instill self-sufficiency and positive parenting skills
  • Encourage healthy lifestyles

In addition, our goals are that their children will:

  • Meet all developmental milestones and identify any special needs
  • Live in safe and stable home environments
  • Receive access to quality care and education
